# Creating A Portal

A portal is the most secure way to protect your group, blocking bad actors with multiple security levels and keeping your group safe. Safeguard offers the most secure portal on Telegram with over 100,000 malicious bot accounts blocked from your group

Tip: When making a portal, ensure your group where people talk is private and the channel with the portal is public, otherwise the portal is useless

## Fast Setup

Fast Setup is the recommended way to setup a portal for your group. To setup portal follow the steps below:<br>

1. Message Safeguard `/setup` in a private chat
2. Click 'Select a group' and choose your group
3. Click 'Select a channel' and choose a channel where the portal will be posted
4. Done! Create the portal or configure options first. More indepth details below

## Portal Configuration

Make your portal pretty for a good first impression

To add Media or Text onto your portal click the button and then send your new media / text directly to Safeguard

Click Add Buttons and it will bring you to the screen above.

To add a new button, click "+ Add Button" and send a button in the syntax below:

To edit a button, click on the button above the line, you can then remove or change the title.

## Old Setup

To setup a portal the old fashioned way type `/oldsetup` in a group. This can be done if you don't have sufficient permissions or have an old Telegram client that doesn't let you do fast setup

Once this message is received, make a **channel** and add Safeguard in as an admin. This must be a channel, groups won't work for your portal.

Finally, **forward** this exact message into your new channel by right clicking and forwarding it. Done! Your portal is created.
